Each February on Youth Advocacy Day, The Mockingbird Society mobilizes hundreds of youth and alumni of foster care at the Washington State Capitol to raise their voices and advocate for change that will affect their own lives and the lives of children and youth after them. The Legislative Advocacy training is a 2 1/2-hour workshop developed by The Mockingbird Society that teaches youth and alumni of foster and kinship care, or youth who have experienced homelessness, the importance of legislative advocacy and how they can participate at Youth Advocacy Day. Attendees also gain valuable leadership skills and knowledge about how to be informed and involved as citizens.
Trainings are open to everyone!
