Youth Advocacy Day
February 10th 9am to 1:30pm
Capitol Campus, Tivoli fountain—North Lawn, Olympia, WA
Would you like to help create a better future for youth impacted by foster care and homeless youth? You can! Join The Mockingbird Society for Youth Advocacy Day on February 10, 2012 at the Capitol Campus in Olympia. More than 200 youth and supporters will come together to advocate for issues that will strengthen and improve Washington’s child welfare system. A full schedule of speakers is being organized, including legislators, guests from Children’s Administration, leading child welfare advocates and a Proclamation from the Governor’s Office recognizing Youth Advocacy Day. The day will culminate with a powerful march across the Capitol campus. The event is a great opportunity to learn about — and advocate for – safe housing initiatives championed by our youth. Together, we can ensure that our youth are heard and our system supports our kids!
The event is free to the public and we encourage as many youth as possible to attend. For more information about activities and speakers, please contact Fred Kingston at fred@mockingbirdsociety.org.
New to advocacy? We will be facilitating Legislative Advocacy trainings across the state ahead of Youth Advocacy Day.
